Naya Calmels

I am dedicated to helping people improve the way they move because I believe that it leads to a happier and healthier life. As an Environmental Studies undergraduate student at UC Santa Barbara, I spent six months researching biodiversity and living in Costa Rica. Selva Terra Eco Resort protects the environment using the same values with which Costa Rica built its ecotourism industry. We proudly partner with businesses who are dedicated to protecting the environment and offer opportunities for us to connect with nature.

  • As a former firefighter/paramedic, you are in good hands in the event of an emergency (although, we’ll also do our part to prevent them.) I continue to maintain a current CPR and First Aid certification. Our health and safety is of utmost importance.
  • As someone who has experienced injury and chronic pain, the healing benefits of inner peace and positive mindset have been integral to my own healing journey. We can work together to honor each person’s unique body and needs.
  • As a former middle school Spanish teacher who has traveled throughout Latin America (Cuba, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama), I can often help with translation and have studied many of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. We value cultural diversity and honor both the people and the lands that we have the privilege to visit during our retreat.
  • As an Integrative Movement Coach, I have formal education in Pilates, yoga and mobility training, almost 20 years of experience teaching and practicing a variety of movement modalities, a passion for dance and a true desire to help others find joy and healing through movement. I’m the owner of Mindful Movement, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. We encourage an open-mind, curiosity, a thirst for life-long learning and exploration of movement.

This retreat is a culmination of my varied life experiences, greatest passions and my personal-professional mission – to help people find their best selves through exploration, connection, mindset, movement and adventure! I can’t wait to share it with you!
