Why Panama is the perfect family reunion destination

Whether it’s exploring Panama’s lush landscapes and wildlife, learning about its history and culture, or simply relaxing and soaking in some tropical sun on Panama’s pristine beaches, you can be sure that a trip to Panama offers something for every family member in your group.

  • Ease of accessibility: Getting to Panama couldn’t be easier. The capital, Panama City, is well-connected with direct flights from major cities in the USA, Canada and Europe.
  • Safety: in comparison with many other Central American countries, Panama has a reputation for being safe for families. Panama even has a dedicated tourist police force in the capital (Politur) that focuses on assisting tourists and ensuring their safety. Panama also has reputable healthcare facilities in case of medical emergencies.
  • Family friendly activities: for families that enjoy outdoor adventure, Panama offers ample opportunities to explore diverse ecosystems and wildlife. During your stay, you can enjoy jungle hikes, sportfishing, surfing, scuba diving, ziplining in the cloud forest, horseback riding, kayaking or paddleboarding in magical mangroves… the list goes on. Selva Terra offers the best of Panama’s nature tours, all in one place!
  • Beautiful weather: Panama has a tropical climate, with temperature ranging between 77F to 86F throughout the year. We recommend visiting anytime between November and July, to avoid the heavy rainfall months. If you are interested in marine tours, make sure that you are visiting the best season for that particular activity. e.g. If whale watching is a must-do, then plan your visit between July and November.

Selva Terra offers an environment where every generation will thrive
Meals, transfers, and activities are organized for the whole group, reducing decision fatigue and daily logistics—ideal for multi-generational families. The resort’s personalized attention, safe setting, and wide range of activities allow each generation to participate fully, in their own way. From the youngest adventurer to the wisest elder, every guest finds something meaningful, memorable, and comfortable.
  • Teenagers can make the most of activities like snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, surfing, wildlife spotting, and tidepooling ignite curiosity and engagement—without devices.
  • Adults and parents will appreciate the blend of adventure and relaxation in balance: from high-energy outings (like hiking, scuba diving, and fushing), or winding down with yoga, spa services, and oceanfront hammocks. Furthermore, activities are customizable and optional, allowing each guest to choose between exploration or downtime.

  • Seniors will be glad to know that while the island is naturally lush and remote, key areas (like the pool, dining, and beaches) are easily accessible. Activities such as birdwatching, boat tours to the surrounding islands, pottery classes, and sunset cruises offer low-impact experiences that still immerse seniors in nature.
