Family vacations in Panama are more fun at Cala Mia Island Resort

Panama is a great country to plan a family vacation. With direct flight from 86 destinations, the airport of Tocumen is the best connected in all of Latin America. The US dollar has been the local currency since 1904 and it is considered one of the safest countries in the region. Locals are friendly and many speak English making it easy for foreigners. Selva Terra Island Resort receives many families vacationing from United States, Canada, Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, among other countries. Families like our Panama family vacations so much that many repeat their trips!

Selva Terra Island Resort

This small boutique hotel is located in the Gulf of Chiriquí in Panama’s Chiriquí province which borders Costa Rica. Most of our guest fly from Panama City to David, capital of the province, but it is also possible to drive from the city. There are two ways to reach the hotel. From the port of Pedregal, near the airport, where you can take a water taxi through the mangroves or a transfer will take you to the fishing town of Boca Chica where you will embark on a quick boat ride to cross to the island of Boca Brava.

Your family will be received at the pier to do the check in process and be taken to your bungalow, villa or beach house. Lodging can accommodate from two to eight people in one space or you can pick several options if you have a larger family.

Punta Sur, our main restaurant, is also an entertainment area for children, especially if it rains. Don’t worry we get less rain than the rest of the country, but we are still prepared. You will find all the board games you want from Risk to Monopoly. Spend hours pulling out wooden blocks from Jenga or play cards until someone yells UNO!

All-inclusive Panama Family Vacation Package

When you think of an all-inclusive vacation usually gigantic hotels with buffets sitting for hours comes to mind. This is not the reality of Selva Terra Island Resort. We simply understand children get hungry at different times and it is easier to include a meal plan. Our all-inclusive package includes transfers from David to the island, accommodation, meals, drinks, local beer, wine and cocktails (for adults, of course!).

Activities are also included in this package. Our team will help you plan your perfect Panama family vacation. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy doing an easy hike to see the howler monkeys that live in the tropical rainforest next to our resort. You can see many species of plants and birds including parrots, toucans, and hawks. Go on a horseback riding tour for an hour and a half through paddocks to reach a looking point then go into the same jungle trail as the hike.

Children from the age of 12 can get their Junior Scuba Diver certification, then pass to Scuba Divers at 15. Selva Terra Island Resort has the only NAUI Dream Destination Dive Center in Panama and the only diving center in the Gulf of Chiriquí. Families can organize diving trips to Isla Secas, Isla Ladrones or Coiba, for more advanced divers. Younger children or non-divers can also see the underwater life in a snorkeling tour.

Nearby islands such as Isla Paridas, Bolaños and Games make for a perfect beach day. We can organize a picnic on the white sands of these tropical islands. Inshore fishing can also be included with island hopping. The Gulf of Chiriqui is one of the best places for fishing in Panama.

With so many options, families can easily spend a week while doing different activities every day. For reservations send us an email (selvaterrapanama@gmail.com) or call us +507 6972-6954 +1 210-390-4259.
