1. Selva Terra Private Island Resort

Selva Terra is one of the most luxurious boutique all-inclusive resorts in Central America. The resort is located on Panama’s Pacific coast just 60 miles south of Costa Rica, on a private island called Isla Boca Brava. The island is the perfect access point for marine enthusiasts and haven for adventure lovers and those looking for a deep connection with nature. 

Getting there

The easiest way to get there is to fly from Panama City to David Airport (50 minute flight time). Two airlines (Copa and Air Panama) operate this route daily, with 5-6 flights per day. The island is located only 1 hour away from David Airport. Once in David Airport, a driver will greet you and take you on a short shuttle and boat ride to the island. Transportation from David Airport to the island is always included in your stay. The resort also assists regularly flight bookings, as well as charter flights and other group services in Panama City. 

 

Accommodations

The resort comprises of 14 rooms, all equipped with AC and hot water and ocean views. Many rooms have flexible configuration, so you have the option to switch between twin or king beds depending on your sign ups. Sleeping configurations are available to cater for families, couples, singles and friends.

Reserve 11 rooms to qualify for a buyout of the resort, it can be single or double occupancy (so minimum is 11 people). Alternatively, you can sign up for a mini-retreat which is minimum 10 guests.

2 private beaches, infinity pool, a beach club, main restaurant, games room, beach club, yoga shala, hiking trails, spa.

 

Activities

There are complimentary activities for your group to enjoy during your stay, such as surfing, a guided hike through their “finca” and see the howler monkeys and kayaking in the mangroves. Complementary use of SUP’s, kayaks and surfboards are also included. For those wanting more, the following activities are also managed by the resort: sportfishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, island hopping, horseback riding, Boquete tours, sunset tours and longer guided hikes. Extra activities can be added to your retreat package or arranged on site for a selection of your guests who are interested.

2. Sansara Surf & Yoga Resort

 

Located in Cambutal, a small village where the jungle meets the sea in Los Santos, Panama. Sansara Surf & Yoga Resort specializes in world-class yoga retreats, salty surf sessions and tailored, experiential adventure. Designed and built with intention, the holistic beachfront resort features a small collection of private, oceanfront suites and garden cabanas, fostering a community-oriented, retreat environment.

 

Getting There

When booking a retreat with them, they will organize a complementary group shuttle that leaves Panama City on the morning of your retreat start date. Overall, the journey on average takes 6 hours. There is an airport called Chitre, which is 2.5hr away in car and Air Panama flies there on a limited basis.

 

Accommodations

All cabanas are equipped with a private patio and are just steps away from the Pacific Ocean. There are single, double, triple and quad options available. Also, all rooms include AC and hot water which is a major plus for many people.

Activities

Every retreat includes 1 dry land surf session (theory). If you want to add surfing to your retreat, you can do so by purchasing their add-on surf packages. Further excursions such as horseback riding and hikes can also be arranged at an additional cost.

3. Waluua Surf & Yoga Resort

 

Waluua Surf & Yoga experience is hosted by a local owner since 2015. It is located in Santa Catalina, in front of the world-famous point break, La Punta. The facility is within walking distance to the town center and nearby beautiful sandy beaches. 

 

Getting There

They can pick you up in the morning from Panama City Airport or in Central Hotel in Panama City on your retreat start date. The shuttle can be added to your retreat package from $100 each way per person. On average, the shuttle transfer takes 6 hours.

Accommodations

The facility consists of 16 rooms, AC, shared garden patio with hammock and chairs.

 

Amenities

Yoga shala, main restaurant, pool overlooking the ocean.

Activities

Use of bikes, SUPs and Kayaks are included, a beach bonfire can also be included in your retreat. Other excursions around the area are Surfing, Snorkeling or Diving in Coiba, Horseback Riding, Nature Walks and Massages at an additional cost.

4. ISTMO Retreat

 

This retreat center is designed to be a relaxing beach vacation rental close to Panama City. Their bungalows are surrounded by nature and steps away from a secluded beach. The rooms are ideal for nature lovers who require comfort.

 

Getting There

ISTMO is your best option if proximity to Panama City is a highly influencing factor. The center is located a 1h50 minute drive from Panama City. When hosting a retreat with them, airport transportation is included in the package. 

 

Accommodations

The property is comprised of 8 rooms, 22 beds. 7 AC bungalows, mix of singles, doubles and quads (bunk beds).

 

Amenities

Yoga studio, lounge areas, gardens, labyrinth and nature trail.

 

Activities

Introductory SUP class on Playa Grande is included in every retreat package, as well as a bonfire on the last night (weather permitting). Furthermore, surf lessons and massages can also be arranged at an additional fee.

5. ROAM

This retreat center ideal for retreat leaders looking for a space around the famous and touristic part of Panama, Bocas del Toro. They can accommodate groups as small as 5 and up to 20. The space is designed to host events, retreats and workshops and the owners offer yoga classes. The facility offers retreat leaders the option to offer no meals to up to 3 meals a day, and the cuisine is plant-based. Fish can be added for an extra fee.

 

Getting There

You take a plane to Bocas (BOC) with Air Panama. You can also take the plane to David (DAV) and drive to Bocas Airport. When booking a retreat at their facility, transportation from BOC Airport to the center is included. Just let them know your flight and arrival time in advance.

 

Accommodations

With a capacity to sleep 15 people, all of their rooms include jungle or sea views,  private porches. It comprises of 8 bedrooms, a mix of single, double, triple and shared rooms. No AC. 3 of the bedrooms share a communal kitchen.
